In His Steps Ministry - Run with Purpose
Our Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 9:24-26
1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
We are people who choose to get out to run, walk, or hike regardless of age, gender & church affiliation. We choose to edify the Lord with our bodies in this to be & stay mindful of the race that is marked for each of us as individuals & as a team in the Body of Christ. We also gather to train for local running events. We begin each session with a quick stretch & prayer.
When: We meet Wednesdays @ 6pm & Saturdays @ 8am in the parking lot located in front of the church.
On some occasions we will meet at local parks, hiking trails, and even the beach!!! Notifications will be given prior to all registered participants via text and/or e-mail.
Duration: How long do the sessions last?
Usually an hour to one & a half hour, it all depends on the distance & everyone walks, hikes or runs at their own pace.
Registration: A brief registration form & waiver is required from all participants. You can complete it when you arrive.
Cost: NO COST to join but when we participate in local running events, you will have the opportunity to purchase a sweat-absorbing team shirt for $20.
***NOTE: You do not have to participate in an actual race to participate in In His Steps.
What to bring: water, sun protection, music if you'd like & dress according to the weather.
Groups are made up of all fitness levels, genders, and ages!
1) Walkers: this group walks various routes in around San Fernando, Sylmar, Porter Ranch, North Hills, and other areas.
2) Walk/Run: If you've been walking regularly and at times feel like stepping up, this is the group for you. At this level you can walk & run at various intervals & always at your own pace.
3) Runners: This group is for the runner who wants to strengthen their endurance, or improve their pace & run time. Whether you want to run slow & steady or increase your roadrunner pace, here is where you will meet goal. And here you can also include running & walking in various intervals also.
4) Hike: We'll meet one to two times per month at local trails to challenge our muscles, breathing & coordination while enjoying the wilderness in the backyard of the San Fernando Valley. Hiking locations will be announced prior. Always bring sun protection, water & lite snacks.
